Our mission is to make disciples for the transformation of Memphis. We live this out through this flow of Help > Connect > Ignite >Impact.
Our primary entry point is Help. This includes those who come to help by volunteering their time to serve a meal or help in Kids Community, etc. It also very much includes our neighbors who come to Jacob's Well to receive help, whether a meal, some fresh clothes, or spiritual help.
Our mission and hope is to encourage our people to move from helping or receiving help to Connecting with Jesus and Community. This often begins by filling out a Connect Card during service, attending a discipleship group, or somewhere along the way as they serve when Jesus is encountered in the faces of those who they are seeking to help.
Next is Ignite. Often while serving, we have seen individuals hear God's call to something deeper, to step up into a leadership role, follow God's call to serving missionally, or beginning a new ministry or nonprofit to meet needs discovered at Jacob's Well. Bridging the Gap, sermons on Saturday night, and mentoring relationship often result in igniting ministries. Some examples of this happening are Ruth's Heart, Boys to Men, and Job's Hatchery.
This kind of flow ultimately leads to true Kingdom Impact. Our goal is not to talk the talk but walk the walk. Our vision is to see racial prejudice reconciled, addiction transformed into recovery, and as people encounter the amazing grace of God, reciprocating through serving others. This is what we are seeing all around us. Glory to God.
