Jesus said that he came not to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for all. When we embrace what Jesus has done for us, we RECIPROCATE that love to others in service. Below are several ways that you can get involved in service at Jacob’s Well whether or not you are part of our community. We would love for you to help!
What distinguishes Jacob’s Well is the relationships that are developing between those who are affluent and those disenfranchised. We seek to begin by coming to serve a meal and end by sharing a meal and sharing life. We have discovered that our service is reciprocal as we find help for our souls in the process.
Help to transport residents of rehabs & any who need a ride on Saturday afternoon and evenings. Either use your own vehicle or become approved to drive a van at your local church or our Jacob’s Well van. Valid Driver’s License and “pretty good” record required.
Greeting people with a smile & encouragement; serving sandwiches and other food, staffing the coffee bar; preparing & serving coffee; slicing & arranging breads, desserts and bagels.
“Compassion Party on the Road” is when we go out onto streets of Memphis with food, blankets, coats, and the love of Christ. Each week we feed between 65-80 homeless or unsheltered neighbors. Three teams depart on different routes at 6:00. Kids are welcome! Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to serve.
Sharing announcements; leading corporate prayer; serving communion, reading scripture, and auditions for the music team.
Lead others to internalize the 12 steps through the lens of Scripture . Knowledge and experience with the 12 steps is required.
Every Wednesday from 4:45-6:00, volunteers gather at Jacob’s Well to prepare food, blankets, and coats to be given away at C.P.R, Compassion Party on the Road. We are always looking for people willing to serve to join in. We accept donations of food and giveaways (mosquito repellent, toilet paper, socks, etc.) Contact us at email@example.com to serve.
Help show that all are unconditionally accepted & loved. Opportunities to serve include greeting & name tags before the service and greeting & passing out fliers afterwards.
Connect with someone recently out of prison or a graduate from rehab to show an example of life in Christ. Visit rehabs with experienced leaders to make connections and get to know future graduates. Receive training on what to do / not to do.
