The woman at Jacob’s well names worship as the issue that marks the divide between the Jews and the Samaritans. Martin Luther King Jr. said that the 11:00 hour on Sunday morning is the most segregated hour of the week. Forty years later, after so much progress has been made to overcome racism, this reality is even more amplified. At Jacob’s Well in Memphis, we seek to be ambassadors of reconciliation, particularly through our worship service.
One key element is to provide music that is intriguing and energetic, drawing us all into the presence of God. We seek to lead worship that touches people of all races and economics in a way that truly speaks to Memphis, thereby bringing about reconciliation.
